Flu Vaccination

This years annual flu vaccine will be available from September 29th. We would strongly encourage our patients to get this safe  vaccine which will significantly decrease your risk of Influenza. In addition, if a large number of the population get vaccinated, particularly patients over age 65, and patients with a respiratory condition or immune deficiency, it will decrease the hospital workload in Winter, especially if there is an additional Covid-19 surge. We will be running dedicated flu vaccine clinics to ensure that our patients will be able to avail of this vaccine quickly and safely. Flu vaccine is highly recommended, and  free of charge for patients aged over 65 and pregnant women.

Please ring the surgery to make an appointment for your flu vaccine. This is a dedicated appointment clinic with social distancing in a safe environment. To ensure ease of patient traffic please wear short sleeves at the time of your appointment.

If you have any queries regarding the flu vaccine or it's safety, read  faq3.pdf

We will also be making available separate nasal flu vaccine clinics for children aged 2-12 from mid-October.  This is a safe vaccine, and childhood flu vaccine schemes have been in several other countries for many years. This is a new scheme being implemented this year in Ireland by the HSE to help our young patients' immunity, and decrease the population Influenza burden, protecting our most vulnerable.  We strongly advise, and will facilitate our young patient's uptake of this vaccine with dedicated clinics in the afternoon after school.
